When I Was In Love With You

from Brookland Voices by David A. Harley

/

about

A very short lyric from 'A Shropshire Lad'. Previously recorded with 'When I Was One And Twenty' as a single song 'When I Was', but I now think I prefer the two songs separate, even though they share the same tune. This is re-recorded unaccompanied, which is how I first envisaged it.

lyrics

A Shropshire Lad XVIII

Oh, when I was in love with you
Then I was clean and brave,
And miles around the wonder grew
How well did I behave.

And now the fancy passes by
And nothing will remain,
And miles around they'll say that I
Am quite myself again.
