South Wind (An Ghaoth Andheas)

from Still In Free Fall by David A. Harley

/

about

A simple but delightful waltz tune, often played as a medley with 'Fanny Power' and/or 'Planxty Irwin'. Exactly who wrote the tune is uncertain, but there is a set of words credited to Domnhall Meirgeach Mac Con Mara (Freckled Donal Macnamara) from 1700. Several other lyrics have been put to the same tune since, however.

I got the tune stuck in my head when playing with Commoner's Mock, the most recent and probably the last of many ceilidh bands I've played with over the years.
